#1 SQUARE DU VERT-GALANT

This small public park is a romantic spot that calls for picnic and feeding the ducks! It’s close to Notre-Dame, Sainte-Chapelle, Louvre, Conciergerie and Place Saint-Michel. This grassy triangle surrounded by stone embankments provides a nice view of the sun setting over the city’s bridges.

Info: Square du Vert-Galant , Place du Pont-Neuf.

#2 PALAIS-ROYAL

Originally called the Palais-Cardinal, this palace was the personal residence of Cardinal Richelieu who bequeathed it to Louis XII, making it “royal”. It is widely considered as one of the most spectacular Beaux-Arts masterpieces in the world. Its 400-year-old arcades house elegant boutiques, galleries and cafes with exquisite views.

Info: Palais-Royal, 8 Rue Montpensier.

#3 HOTEL DE SOUBISE

This city mansion was built in 1705 for the Prince and Princesse de Soubise and contained the Hôtel de Guise, the Paris residence of the Dukes of Guise. The majestic buildings have flowered murals and hide a serene garden with a vine-covered pergola, stone pathways and an inspiring little fountain.

Info: Hotel de Soubise, 60 Rue des Francs-Bourgeois.

#4 VILLAGE SAINT-PAUL

This is definitely one of the quietest sections of Paris. This hidden medieval village hosts some nice cafes where you can enjoy white bean cassoulet, pan-fried foie gras and roasted spring lamb. The village is bustling on week-ends when the street market is open.

Info: Village Saint-Paul, Rue Saint-Paul, Rue Ave Maria.

#5 MARIE ANTOINETTE’S HAMEAU

The grand Château de Versailles is a classic. The Sun King and his 20,000 courtiers lived, dined and entertained there. There’s just something magical about that place where the formal gardens contrast with the royal waterways and fountains. In a quiet area of meadowland, Marie Antoinette built an octagonal belvedere and a classical Temple of Love.

Info: Marie Antoinette’s hameau, Place d’Armes, Versailles.
