Professional experiences and internships
Professional experiences are at the heart of the pedagogy. They prepare students for the business world while allowing them to put into practice the knowledge they have acquired throughout their studies.
Professional experience at the heart of the curriculum
Develop your professional experience throughout the year
From the moment you arrive at ABSParis
Professionalization is an inherent part of the pedagogical program: students at ABSParis must justify a certain number of months of professional experience to obtain their diploma. As the schedule has some flexibility, the students can work:
- Throughout the school year through part-time jobs or internships
- During the summer and winter breaks via 1 to 4 month internships.
This commitment to practice and "learning by doing" is the DNA of ABSParis and the main factor in the success of our graduates.Put on the board
At the end of the study
Acting as a springboard to employment, this 6-month experience allows students to put into practice the knowledge they have acquired throughout their training at ABSParis.
Students have the choice between three options, which can be carried out in France as well as abroad:
- End of study internship
- A 6-month fixed-term contract or a permanent contract
- An entrepreneurial project
This year, our students launched integrated digital solutions, various restaurant concepts, eco-responsible tea rooms, local food processing, real estate programs, development of clothing lines, foreign language and courses in blended learning in France, South America, and West Africa.
Examples of part-time professional experience
- Frederic, 1st year - Part-time permanent contract at Solutions 30 as an IT maintenance technician
- Ella, 1st year - Part-time permanent contract at BIO C'BON
- Jerry, 4th year - Part time internship at ESKO as a CRM marketing assistant
- Bukhet, MBA 1st year - part time internship at IADS as Communication and business analyst assistant
Major events each year to develop the professional experience of our students
in partnership with our partner companies
The Corporate Relations Department also organizes several professional training events throughout the year, allowing students to be immersed in the work environment, thus giving them the opportunity to develop their skills, while putting their knowledge into practice.
The recruitment sessions, job dating, after work sessions and company days are open to all ABS students, regardless of their level of study, major or qualification.
This constant connection with companies has allowed ABSParis over the years to build strong relationships with major stakeholders, which has provided access to students to benefit from job opportunities =, internships related to their studies, and end-of-study internships.
Note that 2 out of 3 students build their professional experience in a fixed-term contract, permanent contract and/or internship every year!
Company case
The Company Case Challenge is ABSParis' flagship professionalization activity reserved for our best students.
Inspired by the Harvard Business School Case Study Method, which consists of introducing real company cases into the academic curriculum. Students from more than 80 different nationalities are brought together for two months in teams of five and must respond to a problem encountered by our partner companies.
The main objective is to teach them to think outside the box to source the right information by capitalizing on their international background to analyze and make proposals on issues in retail, auditing, banking, etc., as well as on challenges in communication, international development, market intelligence, or human resources...
From February to April this year our 90 international students brilliantly completed challenges of 14 of our partner companies to bring them concrete and creative solutions.
Examples
How to reinvent online and offline customer relations in the midst of a health crisis, attract new customers, develop new international markets, invent new services, get clientele from different generations to work better together, while boosting the attractiveness of the brand to millennials...
Paulina LARIOS-PINA (MBA Entrepreneurship & international Business)
The company case was an extremely enriching experience. It allowed me to further discover an industry that I want to develop my career in and it gave me the opportunity to understand the operational challenges that an international company faces. I´ve always been interested in the jewelry retail industry and I got the chance to be the team leader for a consulting mission for Claire´s. I was in charge of fully understanding the case in order to guide the team into analyzing the internal and external environment and finding possible solutions to solve their problematic. Thanks to the Company Case, I am now doing my end-of-study internship as a Business Analyst at Swarovski.
Eizabeth MURRAY(study abroad student)
This experience led me onto a path towards a dream career that I had not considered. I was on a team where we worked on an event marketing case for Luxury Makers by Auditoire. In this case we were tasked with developing a creative brief for French Jewelry and timepiece house, Cartier that took place in fall 2018 in Dubai. This challenge allowed me to realize and undiscovered passion that has led me to an internship working for VOGUE and a job offer from Harper BAZAAR’s top event planner Easton Events.
Anand Kumar SHUKLA(MBA Communication& project management)
Participating in the Company Cases Challenge was an amazing experience! Working hand-in-hand with multicultural team members from diverse backgrounds allowed me to learn to collaborate and lead, be professional, innovate and much more! I had the chance to discover the behind the scenes of Amazon, a company that I admire very much, and to work and share ideas with its key executives throughout the challenge. It also gave me the opportunity to get a part-time job and my end-of-study internship at WorldChefs, partner company of the 3rd edition of the Company Case.
IGS Group inter-schools company day
A privileged moment was meeting between a hundred of partner companies and our students to help them in their search for an internship or their first job.
